Susan Wilcox

With over 20 years of experience centered in principles of liberation education, and working in the United States, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Susan Wilcox formally launched SEW Consulting in 2011. She consults in the area of program, curriculum and staff development; research and evaluation; and retreat and meeting facilitation for foundations, non profit organizations and schools.   

Prior to establishing SEW Consulting, Ms. Wilcox was the first Board Chair and a former Co-Executive Director of The Brotherhood/Sister Sol (BHSS). Founded in 1994 as The Brotherhood, she created Sister Sol in 1998, helping to expand the organization to serve both girls/young women and boys/young men. Spearheaded the creation of its publications and professional development initiative and implemented its International Study Program, programs she continues to coordinate through SEW Consulting.

Ms. Wilcox has taught at Teachers College (Columbia University),  Eugene Lang College (The New School) and most recently The City College of New York. She serves on the Advisory Boards of Education for Liberation Network and the Grassroots & Community Organizing SIG (what is this?) for the American Education Research Association.  She is on the coordinating committee of Free Minds Free People (a bi-annual national conference developing and promoting educational tools for liberation).  Ms. Wilcox has an Ed.M. in Human Development & Psychology (Technology in Education) from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a Doctorate in Education from Teachers College, Columbia University in Curriculum and Teaching.
